My Nendoroid Collection

As my first “real” post, I thought I’d introduce what Nendoroids are for those who don’t know and then show you all my current collection and maybe talk a bit about how I got into this hobby in the first place.

So… what’s a Nendoroid?

Nendoroids are a series of plastic toy figures produced by the Japanese company Good Smile Company. These figures are always chibi versions of their original characters. I happen to be a huge fan of this style, so I find them absolutely adorable. Another great feature about them is that they come with many additional interchangeable parts and accessories to allow for more poseability than you would expect. In fact, most parts can even be exchanged and used between different Nendoroid figures! The possibilities really are endless.

The first time I saw a nendoroid was several years ago at a local toy shop. I didn’t know what it was at the time, but at $30, it was way out of the price range of a poor high school student. Luckily for me, that figure was a bootleg, and I’m pretty sure it’s still sitting at the window of that shop now. Fast forward to November 2011, I spent 2 weeks in Japan for vacation and bought my first nendoroids: Akito and Moritaka from Bakuman, and Black Rock Shooter and Strength from the Black Rock Shooter OVA. The addiction didn’t start immediately, but after learning about figure forums/communities and web dealers who ship internationally around April, I soon fell into the trap  (;д ;) It was pretty bad at first since there were many older nendoroids that I wanted to get, but it has since slowed down (a bit) to mostly just preordering new ones every month.

Σ (° д  °;) Eh?! I had this many already??

Somehow in the past 4-5 months, I managed to grow my collection from 4 to 40+. They’re usually on my shelf with some behind others, so I never realized how many I actually had.. But yes, here is my collection so far, sorted somewhat by series. What do you guys think? (^▽^) Here are some close-ups~

A lot of them haven’t even been opened yet since I rotate between what is displayed due to lack of space. But as I get around to opening them, I hope to do some reviews as well as take some photo shoots of these figures to share with everyone.

Anyway, thanks for reading~! As always, please feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

・▽・)ノ~~ See you next time! Mata ne~

  1. Impressive collection, seeing how much it have grown in just a few months! Are you perhaps a completionist? If so, then will you be getting Haqua to go with Elsie, Eiji and Miho to join the Bakuman crew and maybe even Minami Kana and Haruka if they come out? It’ll be amazing if you continue to get more nendoroids to complete the set of different series. (*Д* )

On a side note, it seems you’ve just recently started this blog, so welcome! I look forward to your future reviews and photos!

    1. Thank you for visiting my blog! I guess I am somewhat of a completionist. I won’t go out of my way and pay premium to finish a series right away, but eventually I’d like to have the complete set (unless I find the entire set to be must-haves). Seeing your Eiji review does make me want him even more now though… I’m definitely not one that would want to get every single nendoroid ever made, since I usually either pick ones of particular series I’ve enjoyed or ones that I just find too cute. Then again, if I had the disposable income, who knows? (>▽<)

Anyway, I may be new to blogging, but I'm trying hard to make my posts both informative and entertaining! Any tips for a newbie blogger like me would be appreciated (^-^) Thanks again for your comment~

      1. Oh, I see! Heh, it makes me somewhat happy to hear that because that should mean I’m doing something right for my review that would urge you to get Eiji too! He definitely looks really good standing together with the Ashirogi. I don’t think you would regret getting him, so you should consider if you have the budget! Do you collect scale or other lines of figures as well?

I’m actually quite new to this myself too, but I think you’re doing pretty well already! I really love your logo and blog layout! Do you already have a rough idea of what your future reviews are going to be like? I guess if you’re doing reviews then there are mainly two approach I always come upon on the net: the informative and detailed one, where you have an overwhelming amount of pictures of the figure from numerous angles and generally commenting it from head to toe or; the more subjective one, where you’d go through points about the figure too but would focus more on your personal likes and/or dislikes, along with the pros and/or cons of it. I guess it all boils down to finding and creating your own style and also what makes you most happy at the end of the day as you go along on this journey of writing. As for now, I’m already enjoying myself quite a lot reading your current entries!
